The UK Symfony Meetup, August 2014

Digital Pursuit were in attendance at the UK Symfony Meetup, at The Counting House on August 20th 2014 @ 6.30pm.

Kacper Gunia, Software Engineer at Sensio Labs UK was the presenter, and spoke about dealing with resource-consuming tasks in PHP, and how they can affect performance or even make you lose money because of poor user experience.

Fortunately there are strategies for dealing with such problems and one of these is queueing. In the session there was a focus on what RabbitMQ is, how it works, how it can be used with PHP and integrating it with Symfony2 applications. After the talk, developers had an idea of where they can apply queues in their system, and then make them fly and scale!

Drinks and the venue were kindly sponsored by SensioLabs UK
